Areas of Practice The longer I practice, the less I know. I am not a lawyer who claims to know all things about everything. I know enough to know what I do not know, and to find out what I need to find out to help my clients. If I need to associate other counsel, I will recommend that. If you need to hire someone else, I will recommend that, too.
I am basically a 'problem solver'. Sometimes that entails negotiating on a client's behalf and sometimes that entails suing someone or defending someone in court. Sometimes that entails sending you to someone else. I have experience handling commercial and contract disputes, commercial lease negotiations, real estate litigation, some land use issues and many types of serious personal injury cases. I have experience with certain types of residential construction disputes, probate litigation, medical, lawyer and judicial ethics.
My clients have included personal injury plaintiffs, some insurance companies in particular cases, real estate brokers and agents, homeowners, home buyers and home sellers, small business owners and big business owners, some real property developers, a community club, a midwife, a hospital, a doctor, a restaurant owner, a dentist, a dance instructor, a government agency responsible for enforcing judicial ethics, a massage therapist, a rugby player, software programmers, an escrow company, a clothing manufacturer, a construction company, a soda pop retailer, other lawyers, persons whose civil rights have been infringed, a rental car company, commercial landlords, commercial tenants, an adventure school, medical product manufacturers and the victims of defectively designed products.
The essence of the practice of law is knowledge combined with experience. In entails the art of persuasion and, when necessary, the martial art of legal coercion. It involves common sense, insight and intuition, clear communication, some finesse, some good humor, a little magic, and more than a little good luck.
